Welcome to our section on support services offered at MS Bournemouth – this will be added to as we introduce new services so keep checking back.
Support is available to everyone affected by MS. The support team is here for you and will try to assist where ever possible. This includes:
– Visits at home; in hospital; and Nursing Homes
– Grants – See section below for more details.
– We offer a counselling service at our centre on Monday’s. This is a free service and anyone wishing to make an appointment can do so through the Support team. A donation for this service is welcome.
The MS Society provides grants to people with MS for items needed as a direct result of their MS, for which there is no health or social services funding available. The MS Society will consider requests for help with items including home adaptations, wheelchairs, scooters, specialised beds and chairs, Motability advance payments, car adaptations, driving lessons, disability-related removal costs.
The MS Society also has a Carers Fund and a Short Breaks and Activities Fund, which have separate guidelines and application form. These grants are dealt directly with at the MS Society National Centre. We have forms available at the Osbourne Centre.
If you think you may qualify for a grant subject to the criteria above please call the branch on 01202 570300.
We have a “buddy scheme” – pairing people up with someone in a similar situation that could be new to our branch or newly diagnosed giving them support when they need it. Please call John Dexter on 0797 713 8851.
